<p align="center"><font face="Times New Roman" size="6">In the Heart of Mindoro</font></p> <p align="center"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">A GK-Gkal Visit to the Province of Oriental Mindoro</font>&nbsp;<br></p> <p align="justify"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">Deep in the forests of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro is a community of Katutubos living peacefully in colorful houses. GK Alangan – Balite – Malta Village is the home of 75 Mangyan families. Living at the foot of the mountain, the village is located sixteen (16) kilometers away from the main road. There is no electrical supply yet in the area. Their water comes from a river high above in the mountains. This in fact is the probable cause of their complaints regarding frequent stomachaches, diarrhea and parasitism in children. Some of the kids of GK Alangan have enlarged tummies and some even mentioned seeing moving parasites coming out of the children’s stools. Moreover, parasitism is not only attributed to water contamination, but another major factor is that children of GK Alangan do not wear slippers since they have nothing to wear as well.
